About dumspyrospero

In latin “dum spiro spero” translates to something really interesting which in the language of this text sounds like “while I breathe, I hope”. Luckily enough it not only defines something deep but it also rhymes with my name. My name is Spyros and I am a photography enthusiast and a world explorer.

From early times, curiosity ruled my mind, inspiring me to get out there and see for myself what our world holds. Thankfully I didn’t forget to bring my camera. Amazing places are full of amazing people and I found a piece of me in every single one of them. At this point of time I keep going, and I will keep going because while I breathe, I hope...

I am the one behind all art you see here which I have created with a tremendous amount of love and passion for revealing the beauty of the places I saw. At the same time I have partnered with a professional printing company that will handle the printing and framing of your wall art. Rest assured your art prints and framed art will be produced from some of the best specialists out there, just wait until you hold them on your hands!

My Journey

I got my first camera and started travelling at a young age and now it has been more than 10 years since I turned a hobby into a life goal. I specialize in outdoor photography and my favorite themes are landscapes, travel and street photography, all concepts that allow me to reflect and analyze.

My goal through photography is to capture moments and places that will act as a reminder not only of what we have but also of what we could lose should we take them for granted. That refers to both the extraordinary places of our world and to the ordinary nature of our own humanity.

Initially friends and acquaintances got inspired by my captures and started asking me to print them so they could hang them on their homes. Word of mouth spread fast and I got more and more requests. I eventually decided to open my own shop to serve the greater demand.

I hope you like the art you see here and I hope it will bring up memories and inspiration to your own space. A massive thank you for all your support!

Giving Back

I strongly believe in giving back. No matter what we do we should always keep in mind ways to improve not only ourselves but also the people and the environment around us. Visiting so many places around planet earth made me realize how important is to preserve the image of those places not only through photography but also in real life.

There are many ways you can achieve the same goal and one of my ways is through active donations from the profits I make through my art. Every year I will be donating 5% of those profits to a good cause that can help improve our world.

This year donations will be made to Friends Of The Earth. They are currently focusing on tackling the climate crisis and fighting for climate justice, the preservation of forests and biodiveristy, the support for food soverighty but they also work other initiatives like gender and economic justice. Sustainability

Every new business endeavour should come with sustainability in mind, period. I wouldn't be true to myshelf if I didnt think of the impact that my brand would bring to the environment. We are living in a time that protecting earth is more important than ever.

A lot of thought was given on this topic and after an extensive research I decided to partner with a printing company that aligns with my eco values and produces my art with sustainability as a core principle. In the expandable section below you can see a list of their production eco credentials and the methods used.

Eco credentials

Here is the action plan that the printing company I am working with has in place. This is not an exhaustive list but highlights the most important wins:

  • We’ve eliminated the use of solvent inks and ensure that only neo pigment or eco solvent inks are used. Neo pigment, water-based inks are 100% non-hazardous, toxin-free and vegan friendly
  • Wood and pulp is sourced from sustainably managed forests which meet the needs of wildlife while supporting livelihoods and providing many other ecosystem services, such as carbon storage and flood risk mitigation
  • We use FSC-approved paper stocks and packaging wherever practically possible. Where our suppliers aren’t using FSC-accredited print stocks, pulp is instead sourced from sustainably managed forests
  • We avoid using plastics in our products wherever possible. Where this isn’t possible, we aim to use environmentally friendly plastics, such as biodegradable OPP bags.
  • We’ve successfully eliminated cling film from our supply chain and are currently prototyping eco-friendly alternatives to bubble wrap (see the innovative packaging of the framed art)
  • We always choose products with the highest possible recycled content to include in our eco friendly ranges (the posters are part of this collection)
  • By operating an international network of print labs we help online businesses produce products closer to the end consumer to significantly reduce carbon emissions
  • As part of our rigorous procurement processes, we screen our suppliers for compliance with both fair labour and sustainability standards
  • We look to partner where possible with suppliers who are ISO 14001, ISO 24000 or ISO 26000 compliant. We also actively seek to work with labs who use renewable energy over standard grid electricity
  • As a minimum, all the suppliers should be able to provide traceability for core raw materials.
